Rhode Island: Non-oncology injectable medications prior authorization update delayed to Oct. 1

As previously communicated, effective Aug. 1, 2022, Optum®, an affiliate of UnitedHealthcare, will manage prior authorization requests for non-oncology injectable medications that are covered on the medical benefit for UnitedHealthcare Community Plans.

This has been delayed for UnitedHealthcare Community Plans within the state of Rhode Island. The transition to Optum management of prior authorization requests for Rhode Island is now scheduled to be effective Oct. 1, 2022.

Please be aware of this delay and continue to submit your requests for injectable medications online.
