Managing Appointment Times and Member Expectations

It can be challenging to keep patients focused during appointments so that you can help address their concerns within the allotted timeframe. We understand that effective time management is crucial to you maintaining a successful practice. The following tips may assist you in managing both the appointment times, as well as our members’ perception of your office visit:

  1. Review the purpose for the visit at the beginning of the appointment
  2. Remind members that any new or unrelated issue may require another appointment
  3. Maintain eye contact and try not to turn your back for long periods of time
  4. Refer to member by name
  5. Actively listen to concerns
  6. Ask open ended questions
  7. Make sure follow-up action is clear
