ODM is Requiring Providers to Register NPIs for Payments
Last update: October 1, 2020
The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is now requiring providers who are billing for Medicaid services to register their NPIs with them in accordance to comply with the Ohio Administrative code. Failure to do will result in non-payment of claims.
The Ohio Department of Medicaid has reviewed claims received and paid by UnitedHealthcare and has discovered at least one claim with the NPI listed on their letter on the claim form (either in Rendering, Servicing, or Billing NPI fields) that is not registered with them. Providers must register their NPI numbers with ODM in order to get paid for the claims for Medicaid services or discontinue putting it on claims submitted to UnitedHealthcare if it is not applicable to the billed service.
In order to register your provider NPI, please reach out to the Ohio Department of Medicaid and add your NPI number to your Ohio Medicaid provider file. Again, failure to do so will result in non-payment of claims.
