Medicaid: Prior authorization changes coming in Texas

Effective Nov. 1, 2021, you’re required to submit a prior authorization when prescribing the attached drugs used to treat multiple sclerosis (MS) or high phosphate levels in Texas UnitedHealthcare Community Plan members.

How to submit a prior authorization request

You have several options to submit your request:

  1. Within your EMR using PreCheck MyScript®: You can submit the request directly in your EMR
  2. Online through the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal: Go to UHCprovider.com and click Sign In in the upper right-hand corner. Then, sign in to the portal using your One Healthcare ID user name and password. Go to Prior Authorizations, then select PreCheck MyScript.
  3. Online through CoverMyMeds®: Go to go.covermymeds.com/OptumRx and complete the online request
  4.  Fax: Download and complete the Texas Standard Prior Authorization Request Form for Prescription Drug Benefits. Then, fax it to 866-940-7328.
