We’re sharing a policy update from the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) regarding urine drug testing.
This update applies to UnitedHealthcare Community Plan members in Louisiana.
Updated urine testing policy
Effective June 16, 2022, universal drug testing/screening in a primary care setting will no longer be covered.
Drug testing without signs or symptoms of substance use, or without current controlled substance treatment, will not be covered. Please be aware of this policy change when treating UnitedHealthcare Community Plan members and filing claims. Visit UHCprovider.com/claims for more information about our claims process.
