New Florida Medicare Advantage plans in 2022

Starting Jan. 1, 2022, we’re launching a new UnitedHealthcare AARP® Medicare Advantage (HMO) plan and expanding existing Medicare Advantage plans into more Florida counties.

We want to share information with you, so you can prepare to care for patients who select these plans in 2022.

What this means for you
If you’re a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage network care provider, services rendered to members of these plans will be covered at the in-network benefit level.

Eligible consumers who live in the following counties will be able to enroll in these plans during the annual enrollment period from Oct. 15–Dec. 7, 2021, for an effective date of Jan. 1, 2022.

New and expanded plans in 2022

  • New plan: AARP® Medicare Advantage (HMO) will be offered in Palm Beach County
  • Plan expansions: The following plans will expand into these counties:
    • AARP® Medicare Advantage (HMO): Bradford, Dixie and Union Counties
    • AARP® Medicare Advantage Plan 2 (HMO): Glades and Hendry Counties
    • AARP® Medicare Advantage (HMO-POS) plan: Baker County
    • AARP® Medicare Advantage Focus (HMO-POS) plan: Okeechobee County; in 2022, referrals will no longer be required for this plan (H1045-036 group numbers 70340, 82970)
    • AARP® Medicare Advantage Choice (PPO) plan: Dixie and Gilchrist Counties

Also new in 2022

  • National HMO network: Most HMO plan members will have access to all network care providers nationwide
  • Tier 1 drug coverage with no coverage gap will be available on most plans

Plan features
Your patients may ask about their plan benefits. Most AARP® Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans include the following features:

  • 30-day supply of insulin for a $35 maximum copay
  • $0 or low copay for primary care provider (PCP) visits, medical and behavioral health visits
  • Routine dental, hearing and vision benefits
  • Access to our national network of care providers
