To help ensure patients have detailed information about in-network health care options, all Massachusetts health care professionals who see UnitedHealthcare Community Plan patients are asked to update their Area of Expertise (AOE) designations by Aug. 30, 2021.
These updates identify your unique experience, training and certifications with certain patients, procedures and treatment methods. The UnitedHealthcare Area of Expertise indicator list encompasses more than 20 options, including:
Patients want transparency, choice and the highest level of care based on their unique needs and preferences. Health care professionals want to build and maintain a thriving practice.
It only takes a few minutes to complete your one-time area of expertise update.
Online in My Practice Profile:
a. Go to UHCprovider.com and click Sign In in the top right corner
b. On the One Healthcare ID sign-in page, sign in using your existing ID and password
c. On your dashboard, open My Practice Profile
d. Select AOE and update as needed
e. Click submit changes
f. Review the updates and click next
g. Click attest to confirm the update was accurate

While updating Area of Expertise, we recommend verifying all your practice data, including contact information, if you’re accepting new patients and more. (Reminder: You will receive regular requests every 120 days to update and attest to your data.)
