Back-to-school update: Expanded children’s benefits

The beginning of the school year is a great time to prioritize children’s eye health using our expanded benefits and new resources.

Children’s Eye Care Program now covers ages up to 19

As of Feb. 1, 2025, the Children’s Eye Care Program includes children and teens up to age 19. Eligible members receive:

• One additional eye exam per plan year
• An extra pair of glasses if their prescription changes by 0.5 diopters or more

Please verify member benefits and eligibility before providing services.

Myopia management and awareness

Myopia is increasing among children and can lead to serious eye conditions later in life. We’re addressing this issue by:

• Partnering with the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition (GMAC) to raise awareness and promote early intervention
• Offering educational resources for parents and guardians
  • Please share our A beginner’s guide to myopia in children, Protecting Vision from Blue Light Education Guide and our monthly vision wellness site to help spread awareness
• Providing free online myopia consultations and discounts on treatment through Treehouse Eyes at participating locations
