Prioritize kidney health: Schedule evaluations for patients with diabetes and hypertension today

As you know, kidney health evaluations are important for patients with diabetes and hypertension. To ensure proper care, follow the annual HEDIS Kidney Evaluations for Patients with Diabetes (KED) measure.

What we’re asking you to do

Please help ensure that your patients with diabetes and hypertension complete the recommended kidney health screenings this year. The following evaluations are needed:

  • An estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) test and
  • A urine albumin-creatinine-ratio (uACR) test or a quantitative urine albumin lab test and urine creatinine lab test on the same day or within 4 days apart

Advise your patients with diabetes and hypertension to promptly schedule these tests with you. For more information, see our Diabetes – Clinical Guidelines.

Correct billing codes

When submitting claims for these tests, please use the correct CPT® code. Be sure to use CPT code 82043 for quantitative urine albumin.
