Nebraska Medicaid: Some telehealth services no longer covered

On Dec. 29, 2023, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced that certain telehealth services are no longer covered by Medicaid, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Per the state, health care professionals must make alternative accommodations by April 1, 2024, to provide these services face-to-face.

What you can do

You can submit claims with dates of service through March 31, 2024, for telehealth services provided to UnitedHealthcare members. Claims submitted with dates of service for April 1, 2024, and beyond will be denied.

See page 3 of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Guidance Document for a list of the codes that are no longer approved for telehealth coverage.
