Reminder of guidance for cancer panel testing

As a reminder, multigene RNA panel testing is considered unproven under the current policy. This includes hereditary cancer panel tests that either include multigene RNA analysis or are performed at the same time as a hereditary cancer DNA panel. These tests may be denied as unproven under the Genetic Testing for Hereditary Cancer medical policy.

What this means for you

DNA-only hereditary cancer panels and single-gene RNA testing may continue to be covered in accordance with applicable medical policy and prior authorization requirements.
