Maryland: Plan changes in Prince George’s and Charles Counties

Effective April 1, 2021, Prince George’s and Charles Counties will no longer be part of the capitated radiology program for our Gated HMO (M.D. IPA and Optimum Choice) members. Effective on that date, members who previously had RAD=PG and RAD=CHRLS on their member ID cards, will have access and may be referred to the full contracted radiology network.

Members will be issued new ID cards, which will indicate no assigned RAD area. If, after April 1, 2021, a Gated HMO member appears with RAD=PG or RAD=CHRLS on their ID cards, please advise the member to begin using their new card. You may still refer them to any of the participating network radiology centers.

Certain imaging studies may require prior authorization. Please check the Mid-Atlantic regional supplement section of the Care Provider 2021 Administrative Guide for commercial, Medicare Advantage and Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (DSNP) if you have any questions.

Please refer to UHCprovider.com for a complete listing of participating freestanding radiology facilities.
