Checking patient benefits accurately and efficiently
Do you need to check patient benefits? Follow these simple steps to determine patient coverage and plan direction.
You or the patient contacts the insurance plan directly.
This can be done by calling the insurance plan phone number on the member’s insurance card. If you are in network with UnitedHealthcare, you can visit the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal.
Do not register the member in the portal unless you plan to utilize the program.
This is important because once you register the member, they are considered a UnitedHealthcare Hearing-covered member and we expect the purchase of hearing aids to go through UnitedHealthcare Hearing.
Once you’ve confirmed benefits and would like to proceed through our program, you can submit a referral request within the UnitedHealthcare Hearing Provider Portal or call our customer care team.
As a reminder, UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealthcare Hearing are different entities altogether, and the benefit information is determined and available at the insurance plan (UnitedHealthcare) level, not UnitedHealthcare Hearing.
