Payment change for Medicare Supplement member deductibles

You might see deductible payments coming to you in a new way.

Effective Jan. 12, 2022, we’re offering EZ Claim Pay, a service for some AARP® Medicare Supplement Plan G insured members. Through EZ Claim Pay, members choose to have UnitedHealthcare pay their Medicare Part B deductible responsibility when Medicare applies all or part of their deductible to eligible claims.

EZ Claim Pay is available to members in:

  • Colorado
  • Indiana
  • Missouri
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina

What this means for you
If a member is enrolled in the EZ Claim Pay service, you don’t need to bill the member for their Medicare Part B deductible amount. When a member is using EZ Claim Pay, we’ll pay you the appropriate deductible responsibility amount for claims received by UnitedHealthcare.

  • These payments will be sent by check, separately from any other claim reimbursement
  • With the check, we’ll include the claim number and other claim-related information so you can correctly apply the EZ Claim Pay payments to the member responsibility
  • Members should tell you that they use the EZ Claim Pay service

There is no change to how you submit claims.

Verifying member eligibility
When you call us at the number on the member ID card, you can verify eligibility, coverage and if the member is enrolled in the EZ Claim Pay service. Currently, the EZ Claim Pay service isn’t shown if you verify the member’s eligibility online.

What this means for the member
With EZ Claim Pay, our goal is to make it easier for members to budget for and pay their responsibility and to get their out-of-pocket cost amount to you quicker.
