2022 FIT In-Home Colorectal Cancer Screening outreach

You may be caring for a UnitedHealthcare Commercial member who has received a Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT), or a letter or email encouraging them to order a FIT kit. This correspondence has occurred as part of our 2022 FIT In-Home Colorectal Cancer Screening outreach program.

Be aware of this outreach in case you receive questions from your patients.

Outreach process
Eligible members have received either:

  • A letter or email allowing them to opt-in via an interactive voice response (IVR) call, SMS messaging or web portal to receive an at home Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) screening kit. (This is not Cologuard.)
  • A Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit based on their prior completion of a screening

Members that opt-in to the program must use their personal invitation code included in the email or letter.

Members are reminded by a letter if they haven’t returned the kit in 30 days. Once completed and returned, the results are sent to the member and their physician on file. Members with a positive or abnormal test result will also receive a live follow-up call from a BioIQ contracted nurse or a certified letter.

Patient education information
Visit the BioIQ Stool Sample Collection to view a member instruction video on how to complete a FIT kit. Members can also visit the American Cancer Society to learn about the 2022 Cancer Facts & Figures for additional information on the importance of screening for colorectal cancer.
