Shared Services Updates for GEHA

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, Government Employees Health Association (GEHA) members in the following states will now access the Choice Plus care provider network* if enrolled in the standard option, high option or high deductible health (HDHP) plans:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • Nebraska
  • New Mexico 
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Wyoming 

Additionally, effective Jan. 1, 2022, GEHA members in California will now access the Select Plus network of providers if enrolled in the Standard Option, High Option or High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs).

What this means for you

Some of your patients may be GEHA members in 2022. You do not need to take any action during this transition.

GEHA members with the Choice Plus and Select Plus network will:

  • Have access to our national ancillary network of providers
  • Have clinical services
  • Have medical and mental health utilization management (UM) services, including notification, initial determination, inpatient care management)

GEHA members with the Options PPO network will continue to use Conifer Health Solutions for inpatient medical UM, including notification, initial determination and inpatient care management.

GEHA members with the Choice Plus, Select Plus and Options PPO network will have access to UnitedHealthcare Behavioral Health network and mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorders UM services.

GEHA members with the Aetna Signature Administrators will have access to UnitedHealthcare Behavioral Health network and mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorders UM services. These members will continue to use Aetna Signature Administrators for their medical provider network.
