North Carolina home health care EVV training

Last updated: December 21, 2022

Beginning July 1, 2023, all Medicaid funded in-home personal care services, respite care services and home health care services must use an electronic visit verification (EVV) system for transmitting data to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

You’ll have a chance to start using the program beginning April 1, 2023. This soft launch period from April 1, 2023, through June 30, 2023, will allow the provider, health plan and state to test the process. We recommend you use the EVV process during this time. If you don‘t and you choose to submit claims directly to the health plan, the system will prompt an alert that as of July 1 you must use EVV to receive payment.

Virtual training sessions

To help prepare you for this change, we invite you to join 1 of our virtual training sessions on the EVV process.  We’ll cover the same information in each session, so you only need to attend 1 — or attend as often as you like for a review session. Each session will cover:

  • Home health implementation of EVV
  • Important dates
  • Steps to ensure compliance
  • How to obtain prior authorizations
  • How to receive reimbursement
  • Important contact information

Registration dates now available

The following schedule shows when we’ll hold the training sessions. We’ll send out registration reminders a few weeks before each one or you can register now:
