UnitedHealthcare working to complete Texas direct payment program implementation by June 1, 2022

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced 4 new directed payment programs with a program effective date of Sept. 1, 2021.

The 4 new direct payment programs include:

• Comprehensive Hospital Increase Reimbursement Program (CHIRP)
• Directed Payment Program for Behavioral Health Services (DPP BHS)
• Rural Access to Primary and Preventive Services (RAPPS)
• Texas Incentives for Physician and Professional Services (TIPPS)

Program implementation status
One of these new programs, DPP BHS, is currently live. Rates for the DPP BHS program, which were given to us previously, have been loaded, claims reprocessed, and current claims are paying at the correct rate.

HHSC has directed us to have all rates loaded and claim reprocessing for the remaining 3 programs – CHIRP, RAPPS, and TIPPS – started by June 1, 2022, and completed by Aug. 1, 2022.

We are currently working to configure our systems, perform claim analysis and reprocess claims to meet HHSC’s requirement.
