Optum Pay™ basic now includes unlimited users

Last modified: May 11, 2021

To help your organization manage claim payment and reconciliation activities, Optum Pay basic portal access will include unlimited users for each account. This change is effective May 22, 2021, and is in addition to the other benefits that users receive at no cost:

  • Detailed remittance information (downloadable PDFs), including:
    • Access to 835 files for each payment processed through Optum Pay
    • U.S. Health Resources & Services (HRSA) documents
  • Access up to 13 months of payment data
  • Payment and remittance notification emails
  • Ability to associate with a third-party billing service

Note: Optum Pay basic is only available to health care professionals and facilities who enroll in Automated Clearing House (ACH)/direct deposit through Optum Pay.

Invoicing changes for Optum Pay premium access

To help create a more predictable cost structure for organizations that enroll in Optum Pay premium portal access, the fee schedule for premium access is being modified as follows:

  • Fees will only be invoiced if over $10 per month and will not accumulate if under $10
  • Fees will be capped at $2,000 per billing cycle, per tax ID number (TIN)
  • The ability to subscribe to Optum Pay premium access is limited to only existing administrator(s) associated with an organization’s TIN or who has authority to make decisions for a TIN

Optum Pay premium access costs 0.5% per total payment amount (e.g., $5 for every $1,000 in payments). Premium access includes all features of the basic portal access, as well as these additional features:

  • Enhanced practice management features that enable users to identify and sort new payments, payments pending reconciliation and fully reconciled payments
  • Expanded claims payment data that identifies the number of claims consolidated within a payment
  • Access to data aggregation tools, which eliminates individual data file downloads
