Utah: PRAs will no longer be mailed

Last modified: February 1, 2021

Beginning Feb. 1, 2021, provider remittance advices (PRAs) for medical claims will no longer be printed and mailed to contracted (in-network) health care professionals in Utah. This applies to most* UnitedHealthcare plans in the state. Instead, PRAs will be available for viewing in Document Vault, our secure online repository of UnitedHealthcare reports and claim-related communication. PRAs are produced at the time of payment processing and available for you to access the next day in Document Vault.

If you are already signed up for an ERA/835, there is no change to you.

This change is part of our efforts to transition paper transactions to electronic whenever possible. Digital transactions get information to you faster and reduce the amount of paper you need to manage.

Be ready for online PRAs

Here are resources to help you navigate this change:

  • A self-paced online course is available to help you learn how to navigate through Document Vault, including how to locate specific documents.
  • Can’t see PRAs as an option in Document Vault? You’ll need to work with your organization’s password administrator for UnitedHealthcare’s self-service tools to change or update your access to view specific documents.
  • Need to set up an account for UnitedHealthcare’s provider portal? If you or your organization don’t have an account already set up, this registration page will help you and/or them get started. Note: It takes 5-7 business days to complete the new user registration process.
  • Make sure you’re using an optimal browser. If you use Internet Explorer, you may experience compatibility issues with our self-service tools. Take a look at our recommended browsers and how to change your default browser setting.

The move toward paperless delivery of reports and claim-related communication for contracted (in-network) providers will continue throughout 2021. Announcements will be made in Network Bulletin 90 days before mailings will end to give you time to prepare. You can read more about all of UnitedHealthcare’s digital initiatives.

*PRAs for American Association of Retired Persons (AARP®) Medicare supplement products and All Savers Insurance are not available in Document Vault and will continue to be mailed.
