Virginia: Transition to Cardinal Care Medicaid program
Later in 2023, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Virginia will complete its transition to Virginia’s rebranded Medicaid program, called Cardinal Care.
Cardinal Care unifies the existing Medicaid program’s Medallion 4.0 and Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus (CCC Plus). In March 2023, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Virginia began issuing member ID cards and other printed materials revised to include new Cardinal Care logos and remove the former Medicaid Program names, Medallion 4.0 and CCC Plus.
Transition process
As a valued provider, the transition to Cardinal Care will be seamless for you. Your UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Virginia provider contract already aligns with Cardinal Care.
For eligibility, claims, billing and authorizations, you will continue to use the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal or you can call the now consolidated Provider Services phone line at 844-284-0146, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday.
