Native American Heritage Month

Help close health screening care gaps

Health equity remains a pressing issue for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Native American perspectives on health, including family nutrition, community influences and lifestyle factors, can vary by tribal affiliation and geography, making culturally tailored approaches especially important.

Early detection and screening play an important role in advancing health equity. Native communities often experience lower screening rates and are more likely to receive a diagnosis at later stages, when treatment can be more difficult and outcomes may be worse. Expanding access to timely, culturally appropriate screening can help save lives.

During Native American Heritage Month, we can help support health equity by connecting communities with trusted, evidence based resources that promote awareness and encourage early screening.
