UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal enhancements

Changes coming to UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal access  Effective date
Add 2-factor authentication to maximize security: UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal users should enable an authentication app (e.g., Microsoft® Authenticator) and add a verified phone number to their profile.  Immediately
General Effective date
Admit/discharge notifications: TrackIt notifies primary care providers (PCPs) when a patient, who has a UnitedHealthcare Community Plan (Medicaid) or Medicare Advantage plan, is admitted/discharged and/or has an emergency room visit. PCPs will be asked to acknowledge the notification(s).

Administrative user help: Training tips added under Manage Users show the self-service tools available to manage users and portal access. March 1, 2024
Primary Access Administrators and Administrators assigned to more than 1 organization/tax ID number (TIN): Deactivate, activate or remove a single user from all organizations in one set of actions.  Feb. 1, 2024
Improve cultural competency: Access recommended cultural competency courses under the Tailored Training section of Profile & Settings. Jan. 25, 2024
See commercial pending claim details, associated letters and action required items in TrackIt: You can then attach additional information and create Provider Information Queue (PIQ) tickets. Weekly email reminders can be updated if desired. (Not available for all claims platforms.) Dec. 15, 2023
Chat about data verification/attestation: You can now use chat for demographic and data verification questions in the My Practice Profile section of the portal. Oct. 18, 2023
Third-party updates: Users can now export third-party access group information.  Sept. 26, 2023
Optional password-free portal login available: Password-free Microsoft Authenticator option is now available as an extra layer of security during portal sign-in. Sept. 15, 2023
Changing email notifications by category: Users with editing capabilities can now send all documents to the same email or opt out of email notifications by document category.  Sept. 8, 2023
Documents and reporting  Effective date
UnitedHealthcare Reports renamed and updated: UnitedHealthcare Reports is now Report Center. It was also redesigned to enhance search and filter capabilities including the ability to search PCP Panel Reports by TIN. March 16, 2024
Eligibility Effective date
Check behavioral health prior authorizations by code: You can now check prior authorizations by code for both medical and behavioral health requests.  Sept. 27, 2023
Users are now able to view vendor coverage for Surest members.  Sept. 14, 2023
Claims and payments Effective date    
Document Library is now connected to the Claims tool: Users can now directly access associated letters within the Claims tool.  April 11, 2024
Like facility claims, users can submit duplicate lines for professional claims rather than entering them individually.  Jan. 31, 2024
Facilities can now submit claims through the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. Jan. 29, 2024*
View zero-dollar PRAs and 835 files in Document Library under Payment Documents. Dec. 15, 2023

Practice management Effective date
Get real-time status credentialing and contracting updates: View real-time status updates on your application to join the UnitedHealthcare network of hospitals and facilities in Onboard Pro. Once signed in, you can see the dashboard, which shows projected completion dates. April 26, 2024
My Practice Profile place of service field added: Users can more accurately specify how the provider uses each address, including if they’re accepting patients at various practice locations. Jan. 23, 2024
Hospitals and facilities will now use Onboard Pro to submit UnitedHealthcare network participation requests. Dec. 15, 2023
Improvements to managing 3rd party access: Primary Access Administrators can proactively grant 3rd party access without a request. They can also assign several tax ID numbers (TINs) at a time on the Manage 3rd Party Access page. Dec. 13, 2023
